Winter Convention Highlights
December 2008
From President Tommy Anderson
The Holiday Inn Select in Nashville, TN. was again the location for this years Convention. Many members from East, West, & Middle TN were in attendance for the 2 day event. Our Board of Directors selected Elaine Christian of Executive Management Resources (execman@att.net) to be our executive director for the next year. The other 3 candidates were well qualified also, but Elaine’s experience with North Carolina and Virginia helped sway the voting members. She will do a great job and feel free to contact her after January 1st, 2009.
Other Convention highlights included Veteran Auctioneer Jerry Gregory being inducted into the prestigious TAA Hall of fame. Fellow member Clive Anderson, Jr, introduced him. Many fond memories in the business were mentioned throughout the evening.
Jacob Massey is the 2009 Men’s Division Bid Calling Champion & Regina Malone is the 2009 Women’s Bid Calling Champion and they will both represent our Tennessee Association well in Kansas City for the 60th Anniversary NAA Conference & Show in July 2009.
Lt. Governor Ron Ramsay attend the convention again and sold the Kenny Chesney guitar at the fun auction to an exuberant bidder, Ralph McKee of Coldwell Banker Barnes Auction Division. All members enjoyed the festive atmosphere of good food and camaraderie and more than expected was raised during our annual fun auction. (Over $8200).
The continuing education was incredible with both contract law as well as sales tax. With both Real Estate and auctioneering credit received by over 50 people in attendance.
Thank you Pam Nixon and Chris Christy as well as David Allen. Vendors had good exhibit areas and seemed pleased to show their products & services pertaining to our industry.
I wish each one of you and your families a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year
